Today, on friday 13th and exactly on this day, we bought tickets to the remote island Rotuma, which is still under Fiji and is exactly two days sailing by boat. We intend to stay there for about a month or until the next arrival of the first ship. We all want to get out of the city as soon as possible, so that Ana can enjoy the sea and the sand she loves so much. We also want a little more freedom, peace, and we believe that we will enjoy on this island very much.

On the other hand, we have a little fear in us because of the situation in 2016. On February 20th Suzana has a birthday and on that day in 2016 cyclone Winston, category 5, has destroyed some parts and islands completely. Reconstruction is still ongoing in some villages of the main island, as well as in the smaller islands of Lau Group, which we intend to visit. The prices of fruits, vegetables and especially yangona are also growing. Because they like this drink very much, the consumption after Winston has not decreased. It began to be less of yangona, so they started selling them a hybrid of it, which grows in a year or two instead of five years. That’s why the price of a small bag today is five dollars, and before Winston it was only one dollar. The locals are willing to pay for this drink, which was sometimes honored only by the chiefs, a lot of money.

We are really getting excited about beautiful beaches and the sea. And what is even more fantastic about this is that on the island will only be us and the locals.
